Rock The Course A Success!

25 04 2008

Thank you to all those who participated in our charity golf tournament to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Our players helped make this event a great success.  Special thanks to the guys over at Honda of Tysons Corner for providing our hole-in-one sponsorship and all our other wonderful donors for our raffle and auction items!  Here are a few pictures from our golf outing.  The weather turned out to be spectacular!  We couldn’t have asked for better weather.

Enjoy!

Kick Off Party At The Italian Embassy

11 04 2008

Special Thank you to all my friends and family for coming out and supporting me at the 2008 Man & Woman of The Year Kick Off Party at the Italian Embassy this evening. The night started off with a cocktail reception in the main lobby. Adler Jewelers sold raffle tickets for a beautiful necklace. I’m happy to report a family member of the Ruddermans’ (Boy of the Year) won! We all piled into the auditorium for a mission moment and a chance for the Society to announce all this years candidates. I have to say there is some stiff competition out there. The Society has put together a winning team this year. I have no doubt together we will hit the goal of raising $1,000,000.00 this year!

A huge thank you to my amazing friend Molly Marshall who won the live auction for the Land Rover America’s Polo Cup center box seats. At $2150 – Molly is officially my biggest donor!!!! Molly’s Box seats were sold to George Cabalu, Bob Post & Fardin Nematollahi from my office who will be using this box purchased along w/ my box which APC donated for a client appreciation event.  What an amazing event that is sure to be!

Again – thanks to all my friends, family and co-workers who are supporting me in this great adventure! I couldn’t do any of this with out your support!

Here is a link to an article about last Thursday’s kickoff.  The blog is by Rachel Cothran at Washingtonian Magazine and includes some great photos.

My Inspiration

2 04 2008

ty2.jpg

For those of you who don’t know my cousin Ty Lewis has been diagnosed with stage 4 rectal colon cancer. His diagnosis shocked us all. It was a complete surprise. After all…Ty is one of the fittest guys in our family. He plays and coaches’ soccer teams in the area. Works a full time job. He’s a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother (not to mention a fantastic cousin!) So needless to say…this has thrown us all for a loop. Ty is having surgery this Friday. His last PET scan showed no new tumors, just five in the liver. There had been some tumors showing in the lymph nodes around the original colon but they were gone after the chemo in this pet scan! Yeah! Progress! Ty has an amazing spirit and is such an inspiration! It is because of him that I decided to participate in this years Man & Woman of The Year campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I believe collectively we can all help make a difference against in the fight against all forms of cancer. Together we can make a difference. Ty, Shannon, Samantha, & Christopher…you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

***UPDATE***  The surgery was a success.  They believe they have removed all tumors!  Ty should be out of the hospital by this Wednesday.  Great news!!!
