I Love Long Weekends!

20 01 2009

Friday evening my husband and I ventured to Reston Town Center to have dinner at McCormick & Schmicks.  I think I got frost bite on the walk from the garage to the restaurant.  Seriously…I don’t think I’ve been that cold in a long time.

Saturday I went to Yoga class.  Yoga was wonderfully relaxing (which I needed after Friday night…same old…same old).  So far I’m really enjoying this new venture.  I’d definately recommend yoga for anyone.  My studio has all sorts of people who come (young, old, and yes…men).  Later that day I went to Abby’s house to help her set up for her Sunday brunch.  That evening a friend was hosting a Tasteful Treasures party for all the girls.  My friend Dawn went with me.  It was a hillarious evening.

Sunday Abby hosted her first XOathome coffee party.  Check out the website below.  She did a great job.  I’ll be getting the Lavazza Blue Machine…ummm….coffee.  Seriously after one cup of Lavazza coffee you’ll be ready to trash what ever coffee your currently drinking (including Starbucks).  Seriously…it’s like liquid crack!

Monday was complete bliss.  It was everything I wanted in a day off.  I did everything I wanted to do….spent the morning in bed (without feeling guilty at all).  I did manage to do a chore in the afternoon…the good ole’ Costco run ($255 dollars later…sheesh…Knut and his cleaning supplies are going to break me!).  Then I went to go see the slasher “My Bloody Valentine”.  I haven’t seen a horror film in ages.  Ever since “Candy Man” I’ve been too terrified to watch one.  I will say there were a few scenes I had to turn my head away for.  Watching it in 3D definately added to the fright factor.  I will say this movie has you guessing who the killer is till the very end.  It wasn’t as cheesy as I thought it would be.

Happy Birthday Karen

Happy Birthday to my girl Karen!  Karen and I met at Melrose Place (our nickname for our old condo building) years ago.  Back in those days she was single and we spent a fair amount of time in the local bars and traveling on girls only trips.  Karen is now settled down and living the suburbia life with her husband Harvey and their son Sam.   We’ve been through thick and thin and she’s one of my closest friends.  Love ya girl!

Introducing Gavin Thomas Hunt

12 01 2009

This weekend I flew out to Denver, Colorado to visit my sister and her family.  On December 30th, 2008 my sister gave birth to her second son.  Gavin Thomas Hunt.  He was born at 3:12pm weighing 6 pounds 8 oz. and 19.5 inches long.  Gavin was named to honor my late grandfather G.T. Lewis.  He is absolutely adorable!

While I had only a few days to spend with my nephews I loved every moment of it.  It’s amazing how quickly they grow.  My brother in law mentioned the possibility of him looking at working for a new airline so he can get based in Florida (we have lots of family in the Orlando area) or even the DC area.  We know what my vote is!  I’d love to have the kids closer by.

Lauren and Jimmy’s friends Courtney and Jeff stopped by with their two children Saturday night and brought dinner.  I must get Courtney’s recipe for the devine chicken casserole she made.  It was really good and would be great for large gatherings.  The deciple within the house increased ten fold with the introduction of Courtney’s two and a half year old, Jack.  Dear God that child was a major source of birth control.  He’s obviously not used to sharing toys and is a bit of a bully.

After dinner I took off to visit my friends Ty & Melinda.  It was great to catch up with the two of them for a little bit.  I only wish I had a longer stay.  I didn’t get to see Sara…yet again.  I swear I have to make a point to get together with her next time.  However, this trip was unplanned and spur of the moment.

I took the first flight out this morning.  I managed to get First class traveling both directions.  Frankly I was quite surprized I got such great seats.  The flights were over sold in both directions…so color me shocked.

Once home I got motivated and took down my Christmas tree.  (Yes I know I’m way behind…life has just been a bit hectic).  I unpacked and did laundry.  Then took a much needed hot shower before parking myself in front of the TV in my cozy flannel pjs to watch the Golden Globes.  Well good night everyone…talk to you soon.

xoxo,

Jackie
